Tours and Corporate Experiences
Our Responsible Travel Policy
At CTL Ireland we recognise our obligation to operate our tours in a responsible manner. It is in everyone’s interest to ensure the Irish natural environment and Irish culture are protected for future generations and visitors.
We believe it is our responsibility to be constantly monitoring our operational models to make sure that our environmental impact is as low as possible. We believe in minimising the negative social, economic and environmental impacts of tourism.
We strive to generate greater economic benefits for local people and enhance the well-being of the local communities we visit whilst still providing a positive and rewarding experience for our participants.
We specifically train our tour leaders on responsible tourism so that they can put our beliefs into practice while on tours. Here is a list of our current commitments to responsible travel:
-
We are committed to integrating the ethos of responsible travel throughout our organisation.
-
We aim to develop long-term relationships with our local and international partners overseas so that the economic benefit is ongoing.
-
We are committed to operating our holidays in a way that encourages positive cultural exchanges.
-
We are committed to respect Ireland’s landscape, culture and heritage by bringing and educating our small group, low-impact tours to various part of the country.
-
We provide an insight and understanding of the host culture and community to our participants so that they can gain more from visiting them.
-
We encourage our participants, through our literature, staff and leaders, to act in a socially responsible way.
-
We are committed to continually assess all our processes to reduce our environmental impact across all areas of the organisation.
-
We are committed to encourage our suppliers and other members of the tourism related business community in Ireland to adopt similar practices.
-
We aim to achieve zero litter policies everywhere.
-
We provide regular and ongoing training in the principles and practices of responsible travel, both to our staff and those employed directly or indirectly around the world.
Traveller’s Code of Conduct
At CTL Ireland we recognise our obligation to operate our tours in a responsible manner. It is in everyone’s interest to ensure the Irish natural environment and Irish culture are protected for future generations and visitors. Therefore, we ask all of our participants who travel with us, to carefully read this Traveller’s Code before they depart for their trips.
-
Travel with a genuine desire to learn more about Irish people and Irish culture. Acquaint yourself with local customs before departure.
-
Your pre-trip research should be continued by asking questions while you are there.
-
Take permission from individuals before you photograph or video them. Also make sure to provide them with a copy of it later. Never take pictures of children and young people under 18 without having received the permission from their parents or guardian. Never post a picture of someone on social media without asking permission first.
-
Respect and care for the surroundings as much as you can. Avoid picking flowers, littering the place or cluttering it unnecessarily. Try to recycle anything that can be re-used so that the environment remains clean, unpolluted and healthy.
-
Make sure to only leave your footprints behind. Take care of the environment like you take care of your own residence. For instance, you can use other alternatives instead of regular plastic bags. Similarly, do not throw cigarette butts everywhere but store them in a portable container.
-
Try and buy local products rather than imported and eat locally produced food.
-
Follow the local environmental guidelines so that you can play your part in preserving resources. For instance, if the hotel where you are staying supports the re-usage of towels or sheets, try to follow it as much as you can. Remember to switch off the lights when you leave your room and turn off any equipment that is not being used.
